What kind of apples should you use?
We love to use Honeycrisp apples or tart green apples when making baked apples. But in this economy, use whatever’s on hand.

Should you peel the apples?
While we very much prefer the taste of this baked cinnamon apple slices recipe with the apples peeled, that is completely up to you. We left the peel on for the color and fiber, but it’s up to you. Do half and half, but we do recommend slicing them as thin as you can do safely, especially if you are leaving the skin on.

How long will the leftovers last?
If you have leftover baked cinnamon apples, you can store them covered tightly in the fridge for three days for freshest taste and texture.
Tips for storing baked cinnamon apples:
- Allow the leftovers to cool to room temperature.
- Then, place them in a sealed container.
- Put them in the back of the fridge until you’re ready to serve them again.
- Leftover baked cinnamon make excellent toppings for pancakes, crepes, and waffles or alongside your favorite protein and quiche.

How to reheat baked cinnamon apples
You can absolutely reheat this baked cinnamon apples recipe. The fastest way to reheat them is in the microwave. On the other hand, the best way to reheat them is on the stovetop.
To reheat these baked apples in the microwave:
- Transfer leftover cinnamon baked apples to a microwave-safe bowl.
- Add a tablespoon of water.
- Cover and heat in 30-second increments.
- Stir gently.
- Taste-test or finger test see if the apples are warmed through.
- Don’t overheat, or the apples can become mealy or the peel very chewy.

The bottom line
This baked cinnamon apple recipe is just three ingredients. Add your favorite spices like cardamom (one of Andi’s faves) or even a dash of heat, like cayenne, especially if this will become a side dish.
